Ragweed (The Poppy Stories)

It has a "city mouse, country mouse" theme in this rousing prequel to Poppy (1995), starring Poppy's ill-fated beau. Impelled by wanderlust to hop a train to who-knows-where, Ragweed ends up in the rundown part of Amperville, where the local mice (all named after car parts) are being terrorized by Felines Enraged About Rodents (F.E.A.R.), a two-cat extermination squad led by evil-tempered Silversides. After several brushes with death, Ragweed defiantly teams up with Clutch, green-furred lead guitarist for the B-Flat Tires, to open a dance club for mice only, then in the climax organizes a devastating counterattack that sends F.E.A.R. scurrying out of town. In the end, though, Ragweed opts for the country life (little knowing that it's going to be sweet but short). A colorful cast in which even the ferocious Silversides comes in for a dash or two of sympathy, plus a plot replete with, of course, narrow squeaks will keep readers turning the pages, while Floca's scenes of tiny mice fleeing looming, toothy predators add more than a touch of drama. This kids story book is for children ages 9-12.

The back cover claims that "The excitement adds up on each page of this action-packed book." That, I am afraid, may be a bit of a stretch for this simple board book that counts from one to ten. The illustrations are stylized, the baby has a huge head, the cats extra long bodies and the dogs are not particularly realistic. The number on each page is big and bold, as is the word naming the objects to be counted. The scenes appear to be random and do not provide a story or lead to any conclusion. There is nothing exciting or outstanding about this counting book. However, it is a good introductory preschoolers book. This little kids book is for ages 0-4.

World War Hulk

It's a great comic book. I absolutely loved the story. It's about more than just a guy getting angry, turning green and demolishing everything. I believe it's about a tragic hero. This man, Bruce Banner, was tricked into being banished by his own peers, friends, and colleagues. He crash landed on a distant freaky planet, Sakaar, where he immediately became a slave, eventually overthrowing the king, becoming ruler and finally finding peace. Then the shuttle that brought him to Sakaar, exploded and caused the death of millions, including the Hulk's queen and the child she was carrying. What made this story so special is not just seeing that the Hulk was angry, but it was understanding WHY he was angry. I don't want to give the whole story here, but once I understood why he was angry, it made the story that much more meaningful for me. Once the story was finished I came to the conclusion that the Hulk is a hero, not a monster. I like John Romita, Jr's work. I thought that he decently portrayed the story through his art. I honestly believe though, that David Finch or Mike Deodato would have made the story come alive visually in terms of artistically showing the rage of the Hulk to the reader. I really did enjoy Romita's work on the WWH though. It's also pretty cool to see the Hulk just absolutely lay waste to Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Black Bolt, and Mr. Fantastic. Nothing made me smile more than seeing Iron Man take a beating. Of course I say this because of Cap's death as a result of the events of the Civil War. Iron Man has just become a jerk lately and seeing the Hulk give him a beating was very pleasing. I also liked the panels of the Hulk vs. The Sentry. I'm not a Sentry fan, but the fight was pretty cool and the Hulk stood his ground against Mr. Reynolds. All in all, I believe any Hulk fan should pick this up, it's worth the money to add to your collection. Most definitely the angriest the Hulk has ever been! This is a very cute story book for kids. My son gave this to his Grandpa for Christmas so they could read it together. It is a really neat children's book for a Grandpa and Grandson to read during their special time together. Smart Kids Reptiles

This kids story book was great when teaching the reptile/amphibian lesson. it showed a bunch of each type and helped my class to understand the differences and similarities between the two groups! Great book for boys and the pictures are very colorful and fun to look at. Even adults were interested in the info and the wild pictures. This kids story book is for kids reading levels ages 9-12.

Fisher-Price Little People Worlds of Adventure

I have a two and a half year old son whom we started reading the flip-the-flap books with about three months ago. He loves them. These little kids books are interesting for him and more interactive with the flaps, counting, object and animal identification and more! The Fisher Price series of these are particularly well made with stiff cardboard pages and sturdy flaps. For as energetic as he is, the books have suffered no damage. I have purchase eight or nine so far and they are her favorite bedtime reading. They ship quickly and are packed well. This little kids book is for kids ages 0-4.

My daughter really enjoyed reading this book. Nice to have a three in one book too. Five stars for sure. Young girls will be delighted with this treasury featuring three wonderful Barbie friendship stories: My Fabulous Friends, Barbie Loves Pets, and Secret Hearts. and this gorgeous collection features a padded cover and sturdy pages. This story book for kids is for reading level 4-8.

Fisher-Price Little People Lift-the-Flap Cars, Trucks, Planes and Trains

My four year old son absolutely loves this book! He finds the colorful illustrations and numerous flaps endlessly entertaining and makes up his own little explanations of events. Flaps are sturdy and easy to flip up. Never been disappointed in the quality from Little People books. Not much of a story but imaginative fun nonetheless. This little kids book is for kids reading level ages 0-4.

The Story of Easter: Read and Share

This Easter children's book, The Story of Easter, certainly did not disappoint my kindergarten age son or I. The book starts with the procession of Palm Sunday, with Jesus riding on the donkey, then takes the reader through Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and finally Easter Sunday. I was quite impressed with the close to truth telling of the story, as it is sometimes difficult to tell this story to children. It is written in a simple, yet truthful manner for all to understand. The illustrations are also a plus, giving the reader an often needed visual (yet not too scary with the events of Good Friday). I entirely recommend this book for all families who have small children and want to explain a bit fuller the truths and events of Holy Week. Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs?

Baby is looking for Easter Eggs. Where are they hidden? She looks behind the bushes, in the laundry basket, behind the flowers, under the picnic table, up in the tree and even behind the gate. She does not find the eggs until the end, but at each "lift the flap" there are items that relate to Easter, such as a bonnet, jelly beans, bunnies and chicks. At last she finds the shiny colored eggs. The celebration can begin. Toddlers always enjoy lifting the flaps to see what is behind them. The little round headed baby changes poses on each page. Children are introduced to a variety of vocabulary-extending prepositions as well as items that relate to Easter. The card stock flaps are probably not sturdy enough for libraries, but this Easter children's book would be a nice addition to an Easter basket.
