Water, Water Everywhere

On the back and on the plastic covering of this bath book parents and caregivers are given advice about satisfying the curiosity that is a natural part of a baby's life. There are ideas to expand on the learning experience in this children's book, which describes water in its various forms and ubiquity. For example, take a walk on a rainy day and test the depth of water in a puddle, or shake the leaves on a tree and see what happens to the water that has collected. When you get home and get ready for a warm bath, this children's story book will be just the thing to pop into the tub. This children's book is for kids reading level ages 0-4. Dude, That's Rude!

Espeland and Verdick break down the barriers of formal etiquette to help young readers adopt a more mannerly lifestyle. Their conversational writing style will have readers smiling and nodding in agreement as they use everyday examples, include fun puns, incorporate age-appropriate humor, and explain how manners make life better. Chapters include the following mannerly topics: words of politeness, family etiquette, appropriate body language and body manners, dining and phone manners, proper manners to give and receive gifts, etiquette online, and classroom manners. Also included are a manners quiz, quick facts, and two regular sidebars: Fancy Pants Manners, helping readers take their etiquette a step further, and Clue 4 U, tips to make everyday etiquette less confusing. Mark's cartoon-like illustrations help explain the scenarios the authors describe and keep the tone light and informal. All in all, this pocket-sized text will appeal to both mannerly-minded and mannerless boys and girls everywhere. This children's book is for kids reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. I Am Invited to a Party!

Young readers familiar with Willems's kids books will recognize his distinctive humor and illustrative style in these funny stories. When Piggie receives her first invitation to a party, she asks Gerald to join her and relies on his advice because he knows parties in order to prepare for the big event. The elephant, however, has a tendency to overanalyze, so he prepares them both for any contingency a fancy/pool/costume party. Piggie's expressive features show her questions about their attire, but the friends set off bedecked in flippers, masks, top hat, pearl earrings, cowboy hat, and evening dress. Imagine her surprise when they find all the other guests as lavishly overdressed as they are. In the second title, Gerald learns that there are worse things than a bird on your head, namely, two love birds, a nest, and three hatchlings. With the help of Piggie, he is finally able to ask them to move, but, as the final page reveals, they have become her problem. Both children's books use speech bubbles gray ones for Gerald, pink for Piggie to tell the entire story. This feature is a nice touch that facilitates paired/choral readings. The conversation between the friends flows smoothly and allows beginning readers to practice expression as they read. These appealing titles will tickle the funny bones of children and are sure to become favorites. This children's book is for kids reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. The Night Before Valentine's Day

In a take off based on the famous Christmas poem, this fun variation describes activities on the night before Valentine's Day. Kids have their scissors and glue out, cutting paper hearts and decorating them too. At school, everything is pink and red, from the streamers and hearts to balloons hanging by a thread. Teacher gets a bouquet from her secret admirer and the kids play games, exchange cards, and have a great party. Even the principal joins in the fun by pretending he is Cupid and leaving the kids a soft furry bundle of love. This Valentine's kids book is for children's reading levels ages 4-8. Asterix and the Magic Carpet

The first album of Asterix comics appeared in 1961 and soon became a raging bestseller in France, topping even Tintin. Originally created by the team of R. Goscinny and Uderzo, it has been continued for the past several decades since Goscinny's death by his partner. Asterix is imbued with very French sensibilities and has taken its time catching on in the United States, but the recent reissue of several numbers should remedy this situation. Asterix, of course, is a Gaul. A very short Gaul. His buddy Obelix is a huge Gaul (transporting menhirs by sheer back strength is his occupation, after all.) Together, they continually harass the entire Roman Empire in the year 50 B.C. Their garbled Latin is only one of the amusements involved. In this particular number, our heroes set off on a flying carpet with village bard Cacofonix to bring rain to drought-stricken India before the local princess is sacrificed to the gods. Cacofonix's singing is so dreadful that it always brings rain, except in this instance, when he loses his voice. Can the princess be saved from the executioner's block? Alphabet Rescue

This is an adventure of the "little" letters of the alphabet who take a vacation to Alphabet City, where they were made. When the capital letters do not want them to help because they are too little, the little letters decide to fix up an old fire truck for themselves. They use the hose on their truck to help wash a dirty car, use their ladders and nets to rescue three letters from a tree, and when the letter?making factory is on fire, they have their chance to be heroes. The big fire engine breaks down on the way to the fire, so the big letters climb aboard the little letters' fire truck. They rescue three little "e's" at the factory and put out the fire. A big parade is held for all the alphabet heroes. The little letters return home just in time to help their friend Charley write a card to his grandparents. Each page contains all the alphabet letters for children to search and find. Colorful illustrations were digitally created using modeling software. It is a fun story and useful for children learning the alphabet and learning to identify small and capital letters. This children's book is for kids reading levels ages 0-4. Leave us your comments. Revolutionary War On Wednesday

In this exciting adventure, Jack and Annie find something to (oops can't say) to help Morgan save Camelot. Along the way, they meet General George Washington before the Christmas surprise attack. This story for kids is a great kids' book and has lots of interesting facts about the Revolutionary War. If we could add more stars, this kids' book would get 10! Classic children's book, I always loved this series. Little old for it now, but I recommend it for any elementary schooler. Good book for children to hear or to read in February because of Presidents Day. It is the beginning of learning to love our historical past. Presidents' Day books are sometimes hard to find that my kids can enjoy at their level. This was perfect and a really great story. This kids book is for children's reading levels ages 9-12.  Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other kids books you would like to have reviewed.
