Christmas Fun Mad Libs
I bought this, along with Christmas Carol Mad Libs, for my two boys, age
8 and 10. We brought them out on Thanksgiving after dinner and before
dessert when everyone was too full to get up :) EVERYONE had a great
time playing Mad Libs. Each boy got a turn to go around the table and
ask each person in turn for the noun or verb or whatever was required,
and then read back the story they created. We all loved it, and the rest
of us were adults! I don't know how long we sat around playing but
dessert ended up being served later than planned - no one wanted to
stop. I will be purchasing more for this year's Thanksgiving. We're
having more kids this year and each one will find a Mad Libs book at
their place setting. We may not get dessert until midnight. This childrens Christmas book is for kids reading levels ages 9-12.

Cop's Night Before Christmas
"T'was the Night Before Christmas" readers will relate to this story in
rhyme because it follows the same pattern, with different words.
Illustrations are colorful and add to the story. The cover shows a overweight
policeman, looking like Santa. The story centers around a young
policeman who reluctantly leaves his wife and young son to work on
Christmas Eve. First, he helps a woman with a flat tire, cautions a
speeding driver and rescues a kitten. Then he sees a fat old cop who
says his name is Kringle. Policeman Kringle takes over the young cop's
duties and tells him to go home to his family, much to his delight. Soon
he sees a helicopter overhead with jolly Cop Kringle inside waving. The
rhymes are good and not contrived. The author is himself a policeman. This Christmas kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. A great kids book and a wonderful gift.

The Legend of the Poinsettia
Tomie dePaola masterfully retells the Mexican legend of how the
poinsettia came to be. When Lucinda's mother becomes ill and is unable to
finish weaving a blanket for the town's nativity, Lucida tries to
finish it herself. After she ruins the blanket beyond repair and is
ashamed to enter the church empty-handed, Lucinda hides from the town's
festive Christmas Eve procession. While she is hiding, a mysterious old
woman comes out of the shadows and encourages her to join her family in
church and offer whatever she can give to Baby Jesus. After gathering an
armful of weeds, Lucinda enters the church and places them in the
manger, where they transform into the bright red star of the poinsettia.
On their way home after midnight mass, the villagers find the
countryside filled with these beautiful red stars. This Christmas kid book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Madeline's Christmas
Bemelmans' tiny heroine is the only person in the old house covered with
vines who still feels well this Christmas season; everyone else has a
cold. A knock at the door is not Santa Claus, but someone equally
welcome, a rug merchant. Madeline buys all of his rugs to warm her
housemates' feet. At last, the merchant is now cold and returns to be
doctored by Madeline. It turns out he is also a magician, and turns the
rugs into flying carpets to fly the girls home to their families for
Christmas. This Christmas story is a little disjointed and is more concerned with
the magic than Madeline. Diehard fans of the series will still clamor
for it anyway. This Christmas kids book first appeared as a book insert in the 1956
Christmas edition of McCall's and was restored with the help of the
Bemelmans family. This Christmas book for kids is for reading level ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other Christmas books you would like to have reviewed. Share this post with your friends.

Welcome to Monster Town
Only when the sun goes down do the monsters and ghouls head to their
busy lives in Monster Town. In this freakish town, no one is left out
and everyone is very good at what they do. Zombies carry coffee cups and
brief cases on their way to work. Ghost writers adhere to deadlines at
the Monster Town Gazette. Little ghouls and girls learn science at
school with Professor Igor. Even King Kong finds a way to contribute. He
holds his blueprints as he engineers a new building downtown. Not far
from the building site, Wolfman Jacques cuts hair at his barbershop.
Mummies, bats, spiders and a giant squid all find a place to fit in
here in Monster Town. Heshka's illustrations are vivid to the imagination as he
captures the essence of all the infamous stars of nightmare legends.
However, without a plot or focus on one particular character, this Halloween kids book
is simply an imaginative catalog of popular, silly, freaks and ghouls. A fun Halloween kids book for your little ghoul. This Halloween kids book is for reading levels ages 4-8. Even Monsters Need Haircuts
When a father closes up his barbershop for the night, his little boy
secretly re-opens it and takes over the hair cutting duties. But he is
not cutting hair for humans, his customers are monsters. When a human
customer suddenly shows up the monsters take to their hiding places.
Kids will love the clever illustrations, including a werewolf getting a
trim with gardening shears and Medusa having her snakes braided and
trying to find the monsters in their "hiding places." This a perfect
compliment to those yearly Halloween readings and when kids are just in
the mood for a good silly story. A Halloween kids book that all children will enjoy. This Halloween kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Moonlight: The Halloween Cat
Come follow this black cat Moonlight as she wanders through town and enjoys her
favorite evening of the year. Smiling pumpkins, the comfortable lap of a
man made of straw, children in costumes, a full moon, and wild animals
such as owls and raccoons are all welcome sights. The oversize Halloween kids book with
its lush colors make this a Halloween treat. One double-page spread
shows a street of houses with witches, a princess, a bee and others
going door-to-door for trick-or-treat while another shows the cat from
the back perched on a branch and looking at a huge moon ("yellow and
wide"). It is perfect for preschool story time and for parents who are
introducing their young children to this holiday. It is positive and
upbeat, focusing on the light side and leaving out the spooky. The text
is short and simple, yet expressive. "Pumpkins smile at her. Straw laps
welcome her." This will be very popular with the preschool set. This Halloween kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. It is especially fit for children of preschool age. Shake Dem Halloween Bones
This is a Halloween book for group sharing and joining in. Children will sing and
dance and chant the refrain as they shake their little bones with the hip-hop
rhyming words and swirling pictures. The rhythm is infectious. This should keep the story time set jiggling to the last scoo-bee-doo-bee-doo-wah. Yeah! AlphaOops: H is for Halloween
In this sequel to AlphaOops! The Day Z Went First (Candlewick, 2006),
Kontis and Kolar reintroduce readers to their cast of alphabet players.
The book begins with the letter Z directing the letter H to start the
show because, “Halloween can't start with any other letter.” Appearing
entirely out of sequence, the individual letters then make brief
appearances dressed up as characters that begin with their respective
letters: “Z is for zombie. N is for nightmare.” The tentative letter B
attempts to shine, but he continually encounters problems; at one point
his buccaneer costume is taken by P (Pirate) and in another scene a
blackbird sits on his head. B perseveres and steals the show by
delivering the final line of the play, “B is for…BOO!” Kontis's text is
rhythmic and comical, and readers who are comfortable with the alphabet
will delight in the silliness of this story. Kolar's illustrations are
imbued with a sense of nighttime theater magic, and the slightly muted
jewel-tone hues set the scene perfectly. A winsome union of humorous
text and art, this light, fresh book is an ideal addition to holiday
collections. This Halloween kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other kids books you would like to have reviewed. Share this post with your friends.

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet
Having packed his Martian Space Pilot costume in his bag, Gilbert, the
hedgehog introduced in Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink (Morrow,
1996), trots off to school for a holiday parade and party. Imagine his
dismay when he discovers that he has taken his sister Lola's sack and
her pink ballerina outfit by mistake. As five of his classmates also
decided to be Martian Space Pilots, it's not an unmitigated disaster so
he squeezes into the tutu and toughs it out, encountering surprise but
not a trace of derision from his peers. Well, it could happen. De Groat
moves her human-proportioned animal cast between a comfortable suburban
neighborhood dotted with colorful autumn leaves and a school restroom
where the boys change clothes. However skeptical they may be of the mild
reaction to Gilbert's costume, young viewers will enjoy the glimpses of
loudly colored underwear (plus, for many girls, exotic bathroom
plumbing). Despite severely undersized tights, Gilbert isn't made to
look all that ludicrous or uncomfortable. Although Lola reclaims her
costume for the evening's trick-or-treating, she and her brother at
least tinker with gender stereotypes, and that may plant seeds in some
readers' minds. This Halloween kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other kids books you would like to have reviewed. Share this post with your friends.

Weirdo Halloween: Special Edition (Goosebumps Horrorland)
R.L. Stine's books have sold more than 300 million copies, making him
one of the most popular children's authors in history. Besides
Goosebumps, R.L. Stine has written series including: Fear Street, Rotten
School, Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and Dangerous Girls. R.L.
Stine lives in New York with his wife, Jane, and his King Charles
spaniel, Minnie. If you think Halloween could not get any weirder than this, then you must
be dead wrong. After two kids stumble into Jonathan Chiller's shop in
HorrorLand, they will soon discover that a magical Floig (a stuffed animated
creature with buggy frog eyes) belongs to an alien called a Weirdo, whom
they later meet in the real world, where the two kids, Meg and Chris,
are in grave danger. When the children discover that Bim the Weirdo
feeds on human emotions, they realize how easy it will be to make the
pesky alien disappear forever. After Bim returns to his home planet,
Meg returns to HorrorLand on Halloween to play a scary game for Jonathan
Chiller. If she wins, Meg gets to go home. But if she loses, she must
stay in HorrorLand forever. Someone is stealing Meg's identity. It
turns out that the Meg's twin is a robot and so Meg returns safely home
where she belongs with her family and friends. What does Jonathan
Chiller have planned for all of these kids who will return to Jonathan's
Chiller House to collect their payment? Find out in the next story ark!

Trixie The Halloween Fairy
With this "Rainbow Magic" series, the author seeks to tap into current
fascination with fairies. This "special edition" series book has
particular appeal, focusing as it does on the fun, exciting holiday of
Halloween. Rachel and Kirsty are looking ahead to trick-or-treating
as fairies, but their plans are quickly interrupted by the mean spirited
antics of Jack Frost. Frost had his goblins steal three magical pieces
of Halloween candy from Trixie, the Halloween Fairy. Fortunately, they
lost the candy in the process; at least they do not have it!
Unfortunately, unless Trixie can find the candies and return them to
Fairyland before Frost's minions find them, Halloween will be ruined!
That is where Rachel and Kirsty come in. Trixie needs the girls' help to
find the chocolate bar, candy corn, and caramel apple. The pacing of
this Halloween kids book is slow and the action is surprisingly passive. The true hero
of the book seems to be Trixie's Fairyland kitten Moonlight. Still,
fairy loving readers are likely to enjoy this book, and the low cost might
justify its purchase as an appealing holidayspecific option for middle
readers. This Halloween children's book is for reading levels ages 9-12. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other books you would like to have reviewed. Don't miss out on our Halloween kids book sale.

Extreme Halloween: The Ultimate Guide to Making Halloween Scary Again
Every year I look forward to the next Tom Nardone masterpiece. The stuff
he does with pumpkins is inspiring. Pumpkins with flames coming out of
them. Pumpkins in chains that form archways. Pumpkins that create giant
insects. Pumpkins that form the weird heads on fake corpses. Anything
one might imagine and lots that we never could without Tom Nardone. So
funny. So grotesque. This Halloween book is an expanded one that has suggestions for
costumes-pranks-party food-creatures, and of course, Pumpkins! What
would Halloween be without 'em? Or, without the genius of Tom Nardone?
Highly recommended. This Halloween book is for the older kids. Teens will have fun with this exciting Halloween book. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. The Teeny Tiny Ghost
This is ghostly trick or treat fun for tiny tots. The tiny ghost
discovers that haunting is very hard, especially for a ghost who is
scared. The secrets of his heritage seem out of his grasp until one
Halloween night when he is motivated to be a protector of his cats and
his home. The pictures of the tiny ghost trying out his scary voice,
frightening himself and then puffing himself up to look scary are a
hoot. Audience participation for sound effects makes this a crowd
pleaser. This is a great Halloween children's book for kids ages 4-8.

Arthur's Halloween: Book & CD
Sure to be popular due to the success of the new PBS television
series, these new additions to the series demonstrate the vocal talent
of author/illustrator Marc Brown. Arthur's creator reads the texts,
giving each character a distinctive voice. He is able to portray the
females, like mother and D.W., while avoiding stereotypical high,
squeaky voices. The production values on the recordings are excellent,
with background music and helpful sound effects. The slamming of car
doors, the sound of rain or footsteps, and other sound effects give the
tapes the quality of old radio shows. Each tape opens with the theme
song, "Say Hello to Arthur." Both sides of each tape are the same except
for the page-turning signal bell on one side. In Arthur's Family
Vacation, rain ruins the family's stay at the beach until Arthur thinks
of activities they can do. In Arthur's Halloween, Arthur and D.W. learn
you can't presume a house is haunted just because the outside looks run
down. The artwork in each children's book features Brown's customary cartoon-like
ink and watercolor illustrations that add humor to the stories. The
tapes work well even without the kids books. This Halloween kids book is for kids reading levels ages 4-8. Like this post and share it with your friends and family. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other children's books you would like to have reviewed.

Trick or Treat: A Peanuts Halloween
I will admit to being a somewhat casual reader of comic strips. I have a
few favorites I follow regularly, but around the holidays such as
Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas is really when I sit down and
read a lot of newspaper strips. I guess I just love seeing how they
celebrate the holidays and their usually quite funny. This collection of Peanuts strips is all about Halloween as Charlie and
the gang go trick-or-treating, have parties, and dress up for the
season. It is not a complete collection of all of Schulz strips to be
sure, but it is a nice, representative gathering of material culled from
over the years. also included throughout is mostly forgettable tips for
throwing parties, decorating, and recipes. None of it worth much and I
would have preferred to see more comics and some in color as opposed to
that stuff. all in all a nice collection. I highly recommend this children's book, especially for any die-hard Peanuts fan.
It was wonderful to see how Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang changed
over time. And I happen to like Schulz's humor better when he first
started writing and drawing; it was more childlike. The comics are Halloween and monster themed and some of them are
hilarious, ones I have not seen in a long time. Of course there is lots
about "The Great Pumpkin" but how could it be coming Halloween and Linus
does not mention him! Read it and enjoy. Good old fashioned comics and humor! This Halloween kids book is for children reading levels ages 4-8.

10-Minute Critical Thinking Activities for Math
I bought this kids book so I could be kept up to date on my math skills.
This book was an excellent choice for me. It has tons of problems in the
following areas: Critical Thinking and Algebra, Logic and Critical
Thinking, Number theory and Problem Solving, Sequences Patterns and Codes
and Visual/Geometric Patterns. It starts off basic and gets more
challenging. First you do work with patterns, then algebra, then some
hard logic problems and onto problems involving thinking and counting
(not simple 1,2,3 counting). I recommend this kids book to any adult who
wants to "keep in touch" with their math skills. It is also good for a
high school math class. This kids book is for children ages 12 and up.

Going Swimming
Here is the ideal way to show your toddler what happens at the swimming pool. A
real understanding of the realities of family life is the highlight of
these warm and reassuring little kids books. Parents in Touch Charming read.
Packed full of details that had me imagining mini stories about the other
characters. The style of illustration are realistic and the story is a
great depiction of going swimming. These kids
books are absolutely lovely. They should do very well for the really
young person who might be about to go and do one of these things. This little kids book if for children reading level ages 3-6.

28 Good Night Stories
This anthology is neatly tied together with a knot of friendship between
a guardian-angel trainee and an old bear. The two take turns sharing
one story each night until the next full moon and the angel's big test.
In the end, the bear learns the secret word that the angel has whispered
in the ear of a child each night: "Grow." That is the central theme of
each story, whether it be physical, emotional or intellectual growth.
While the concept is sweet and the message meaningful (if forced at
times), several stories lack the spark that would bring them to life.
Tharlet's charming artwork employs a soft palette that lends to the
somnolent feel of the stories, depicting the most cogent details of
each. The affection between the two friends is easily apparent, while
the adorable little angel's almost hopeless clumsiness will have readers
rooting for his final success. A mixed result, but there are lessons to
be learned here, and the illustrations are worth a look. This story book for kids is for ages 4-8.

1 Teddy Bear: A Counting Book
Teddy bears are certainly a favorite child's toy. Soft, warm, brown plush
usually adds to the comfort. In this board book, the familiar toy comes
in a variety of shades from almost yellow to dark brown, and the teddy
bears are used to help kids learn to count from 1 to 10. The bears are
shown in recognizable activities, two on the phone, four waving at the
reader, six holding flowers, nine wearing red caps and ten all in a
bed. With that many teddy bears, there is no room for a sleepy child,
but the kids will enjoy seeing two teddy bears reading books, one
snuggling with a doll and others already asleep. The spreads are
different colors, so the little kids book could also be used to introduce more than
half a dozen colors. This kids book is simple, but effective. This children's book is for kids ages 0-4. Preschoolers books for kids.

Ragweed (The Poppy Stories)
It has a "city mouse, country mouse" theme in this rousing prequel to Poppy
(1995), starring Poppy's ill-fated beau. Impelled by wanderlust to hop a
train to who-knows-where, Ragweed ends up in the rundown part of
Amperville, where the local mice (all named after car parts) are being
terrorized by Felines Enraged About Rodents (F.E.A.R.), a two-cat
extermination squad led by evil-tempered Silversides. After several
brushes with death, Ragweed defiantly teams up with Clutch, green-furred
lead guitarist for the B-Flat Tires, to open a dance club for mice
only, then in the climax organizes a devastating counterattack that
sends F.E.A.R. scurrying out of town. In the end, though, Ragweed opts
for the country life (little knowing that it's going to be sweet but
short). A colorful cast in which even the ferocious Silversides comes in
for a dash or two of sympathy, plus a plot replete with, of course,
narrow squeaks will keep readers turning the pages, while Floca's scenes
of tiny mice fleeing looming, toothy predators add more than a touch of
drama. This kids story book is for children ages 9-12.

1 Baby, 2 Cats, 3 Trucks
The back cover claims that "The excitement adds up on each page of this
action-packed book." That, I am afraid, may be a bit of a stretch for this
simple board book that counts from one to ten. The illustrations are
stylized, the baby has a huge head, the cats extra long bodies and the
dogs are not particularly realistic. The number on each page is big and
bold, as is the word naming the objects to be counted. The scenes
appear to be random and do not provide a story or lead to any
conclusion. There is nothing exciting or outstanding about this counting
book. However, it is a good introductory preschoolers book. This little kids book is for ages 0-4.

World War Hulk
It's a great comic book. I absolutely loved the story. It's about more than
just a guy getting angry, turning green and demolishing everything. I
believe it's about a tragic hero. This man, Bruce Banner, was tricked
into being banished by his own peers, friends, and colleagues. He crash
landed on a distant freaky planet, Sakaar, where he immediately became a
slave, eventually overthrowing the king, becoming ruler and finally
finding peace. Then the shuttle that brought him to Sakaar, exploded and
caused the death of millions, including the Hulk's queen and the child
she was carrying. What made this story so special is not just seeing
that the Hulk was angry, but it was understanding WHY he was angry. I
don't want to give the whole story here, but once I understood why he
was angry, it made the story that much more meaningful for me. Once the
story was finished I came to the conclusion that the Hulk is a hero, not
a monster. I like John Romita, Jr's work. I thought that he decently
portrayed the story through his art. I honestly believe though, that
David Finch or Mike Deodato would have made the story come alive
visually in terms of artistically showing the rage of the Hulk to the
reader. I really did enjoy Romita's work on the WWH though. It's also
pretty cool to see the Hulk just absolutely lay waste to Iron Man, Dr.
Strange, Black Bolt, and Mr. Fantastic. Nothing made me smile more than
seeing Iron Man take a beating. Of course I say this because of Cap's
death as a result of the events of the Civil War. Iron Man has just
become a jerk lately and seeing the Hulk give him a beating was very
pleasing. I also liked the panels of the Hulk vs. The Sentry. I'm not a
Sentry fan, but the fight was pretty cool and the Hulk stood his ground
against Mr. Reynolds. All in all, I believe any Hulk fan should pick
this up, it's worth the money to add to your collection. Most definitely
the angriest the Hulk has ever been! This comic book is for kids reading level ages 9 and up. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other kids books you would like to have reviewed.

series of these are particularly well made with stiff cardboard pages

Fisher-Price Little People Lift-the-Flap Cars, Trucks, Planes and Trains
My four year old son absolutely loves this book! He finds the colorful
illustrations and numerous flaps endlessly entertaining and makes up
his own little explanations of events. Flaps are sturdy and easy to flip up. Never been disappointed in the quality from Little People books. Not much of a story but
imaginative fun nonetheless. This little kids book is for kids reading level ages 0-4.

The Story of Easter: Read and Share
This Easter children's book, The Story of Easter, certainly did not disappoint my
kindergarten age son or I. The book starts with the procession of Palm
Sunday, with Jesus riding on the donkey, then takes the reader through
Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and finally Easter Sunday. I
was quite impressed with the close to truth telling of the story, as it
is sometimes difficult to tell this story to children. It is written
in a simple, yet truthful manner for all to understand. The
illustrations are also a plus, giving the reader an often needed visual
(yet not too scary with the events of Good Friday). I entirely
recommend this book for all families who have small children and want to
explain a bit fuller the truths and events of Holy Week. This Easter children's book is for kids reading levels ages 4-8. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other children's books you would like to have reviewed.

Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs?
Baby is looking for Easter Eggs. Where are they hidden? She looks behind
the bushes, in the laundry basket, behind the flowers, under the picnic
table, up in the tree and even behind the gate. She does not find the eggs
until the end, but at each "lift the flap" there are items that relate to
Easter, such as a bonnet, jelly beans, bunnies and chicks. At last she
finds the shiny colored eggs. The celebration can begin. Toddlers
always enjoy lifting the flaps to see what is behind them. The little
round headed baby changes poses on each page. Children are introduced to
a variety of vocabulary-extending prepositions as well as items that
relate to Easter. The card stock flaps are probably not sturdy enough for
libraries, but this Easter children's book would be a nice addition to an Easter basket. This Easter children's book is for kids reading levels baby-preschool, ages 0-4. Leave us your comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Let us know what other kids books you would like to have reviewed.

Easter Mice!
Mother Mouse bedecked in her Easter bonnet takes her three children
dressed in jackets and ties outside for an egg hunt. The two older ones
begin to search right away but the youngest gets sidetracked. He
thoroughly enjoys picking flowers ("Sniff! Whiff!/ Spring! Fling!"),
rolling in the mud, swinging on a branch, and boating on a leaf. When
Mother Mouse gathers her three boys, the youngest is upset because he is
the only one with no eggs. He runs away but happens upon an egg that
cracks and reveals "An Easter friend." Cushman's illustrations in
springtime colors extend a spare but energetic text that is full of
action words. The expressive faces of the little mice will engage the
reader. There are a number of imaginative touches in the interior of the
house, such as the pencil that serves as a curtain rod and the postage
stamp that is a picture on the wall. A nice little holiday story with a
reassuring premise for young listeners.

The simple declarative phrases and gently humorous illustrations are just right for the age group...Stickers are included. Gossie and her friends are back, dyeing Easter eggs. As in the other
"Gossie and Friends" books, the illustrations are bright watercolors
against a white background. Fans and newcomers alike will be delighted
with this latest installment. This Easter children's book is for kids ages 4-8.

Peanuts: The Easter Beagle Egg Hunt
A bit advanced for my toddler child, but the plastic eggs are great
for counting fun, and we talked about the positive and negative
characteristics of Lucy and some of the other kids. This Easter children's book is rated for kids reading level ages 4-8. It is more suited for kids beginning at ages 5 or 6. Leave us your comments. We greatly appreciate your feedback. Let us know what children's books you would like to have reviewed in the future.

Easter in Harwick
This was the first Easter children's book I had bought for my son age 3. He really
enjoys the Thomas and Friends books/toys, so I knew this would be a hit.
At this age I have been buying holiday books that get him into the
spirit and it has really made him understand once the holiday came. We
still have to read it once and a while so it is not just for Easter. This kids Easter book is for kids ages 4-8.

Bunny's Easter Egg
Bunny has been working hard all night to hide beautiful eggs for the
hunt on Easter morning, and now she would like nothing better than to
take a long quiet nap. She still has one egg in her basket, but it is
very plain, and anyway, she is too tired to hide any more eggs. But try
as she might, she cannot find a good place to sleep. The birds are
chirping, the frogs are croaking, the mice are squeaking…how will she
ever get any sleep? After trying a series of likely spots the garden,
the boat at the pond, a hollow in some tree roots she finally ends up
back in her own egg basket and finds that she now has a new companion in
place of the plain brown egg. The story line is simple with lots of
repetition, which will appeal to young listeners. This is definitely a
"read to" book since the vocabulary is often beyond the target audience
age range (e.g., wheelbarrow, burrowing, etc.). The illustrations are
exquisitely executed with beautiful colors and engaging depictions of
small animals, flowers, and brightly colored eggs. There is even a
challenge in the beginning of the book to find all the eggs hidden in
the book's illustrations. A timely addition for the Easter season, this
book would make a nice personal gift, but is of limited utility for
classroom discussion or group work.

Biggest Easter Basket Ever
Mouseville residents are all excited by the upcoming Easter festivities.
The mayor has announced that there will be an egg rolling contest,
Easter egg hunt and a contest to see who can make the biggest Easter
basket. Clayton and Desmond are each determined to win and they prepare
really huge baskets, but when they check out those of their friends they
realize that the others are about the same size. The solution becomes
fairly obvious Desmond and Clayton decide to cooperate and together
with their families they do build the biggest and best Easter basket.
The friends win the contest and share all the goodies with those who are
participating in the festivities. The added attraction in this book is
the series of foil egg stickers (for which there is no explanation or
apparent use in the book).
A delightful children's Easter story book. Recommend for kids ages 4 8.

Hack// Another Birth Volume 3
.Hack Another Birth is written by N.Kawasaki. It is a science fiction
novel. I thought the book was awesome! It always kept me guessing and
had a lot of surprise turns. Most of the time the book takes place in an
online video game called The world. Other times it takes place in the
real world. The major conflict is Akiras brother Fumakazu has fallen
into a coma wile playing The World. Akira must find the reason why he is
in a coma with the help of her online friend kite. Akiras online friend
Mistral (whom she eventually meets in the real world.) has to quit
playing The World because she it pregnant. Akira was ok with this and
said it was best the she did quit due to all the stuff that'
s been
happening in the game. Lios and Helba two characters in the story really
dislike each other but they must join forces in order to help Akira and
company to fix the world. Akira thinks of a plan to bring them
together and work out a deal for Lios to join. This book is biased on
Akiras point of view. There are a lot of big words that are hard to
pronounce in this book. For people who like science fiction and online
games .Hack would be the best choice. They will get a suspenseful and
page turning book.

1 2 3 (Usborne Baby Board Books)
Introducing the numbers one to ten, the pages of this board book provide
more than one opportunity to learn counting. On the page with two
penguins, there are also two snowflakes, two birds, two feet and two
flippers for each penguin, two eyes, two white tummies and two
snowballs. The illustrations are eye catching and should appeal to kids.
It is an excellent baby board book and the best in the series of "Usborne
Baby Board Books." 2000
This is an excellent baby board book for teaching counting. There are numerous things to count and this will keep your baby from getting bored with the book. Leave your comments and questions. We always look forward to hearing from you.

hack// Another Birth Volume 2
Soon I finished the first book in 3 days I went back to the kids book store
and bought the second one and like the first I couldn't stop reading. I
played the game no my brother did until some point and had to stop, not
because we wanted to, but when I got to the point where we had stopped
playing the game I was so enthused I even considered buying it. I did not
even need to open the book to know it was going to be good when I saw it
on the shelf at the book store. There was no need to because the game
was good and the book I can not compare. I completed it in 3 days and loved
everything about it. I will reread all the books just for the heck of
the love I have for them. Any more books that come out for the
.hack//series I'm getting without thinking of the outcome or what I was
planning to use the money on.

Valentines Are For Saying I Love You
This book is what Valentine's Day is all about. I bought it for my adult
sisters, adult sons, and preschool age grandchildren. I hear so often
people complaining about what they didn't get on Valentine's Day. This
book shows that Valentine's Day is about giving, not about getting. The
little girl in the book makes special valentines for all of the people
she loves and one by one gives the valentines to family members,
friends, and even her dog. It is a joyful book that shows the true
meaning of the day. It makes a wonderful valentine for adults too at a
reasonable cost.

.hack// Another Birth Volume 1
This book was amazing and I can not wait to get the second one. I loved
the plot twists because I thought I knew what was going to happen but I
was so wrong. This book just pulled me in and I could not stop reading
it, so I read the whole thing in one day. Everyone that is into any form
of manga should try this series out. It is very important to
read the postscript though so don't forget it. This book would get a 100
on a scale of 1 - 10. That is how good this book is. The only draw back is that there are a few typos, but this is normal for a first run of a series. This book is targeted for young adult readers. Your teenagers will love this book for teens.

If You Lived at the Time of Martin Luther King
Updated from the 1990 edition, this well-written, historically rich text
deserves a spot in every school and public library collection. In the
attempt to paint a portrait of key events, people, and beliefs
associated with the civil rights movement in America, Levine refuses to
oversimplify, conceal, or glorify. She is honest in the telling, sharing
vividly but not gratuitously the physical and emotional violence that
resulted in the attempt to enact equality in the United States—from the
Birmingham church bombings to the attempts by Bull Connor to break up a
children's protest using water hoses and attack dogs. Levine defines and
provides contextual information for difficult concepts (segregation and
nonviolent direct action, for example) and reveals lesser-known
historical truths to fill in the gaps often existent in classroom
textbooks. Readers learn, for instance, that teenager Claudette Colvin
paved the way for Rosa Parks by first refusing to give up her seat on
the bus and that President Kennedy gained support from black voters in
his support of Martin Luther King, Jr. The illustrations capture well
the strong emotions experienced by those on all sides, leaving readers
sometimes uncomfortable but always inspired to think carefully and
critically. The text is organized by key questions, making it easy to
navigate, and ends with a time line of important events, list of places
to visit, and music and lyrics to "We Shall Overcome."

(Crime Scene Science) The Body as Evidence
If there is one subject that keeps kids interested, it is science. They seem to be fascinated by all the aspects of this. In this kids book we turn to forensic science. There has been a murder. A victim is pronounced dead. The police have sealed off the crime scene and called in the Medical Examiner, this gives it the realistic feel of how things are really done. The author gives all the facts needed in a magazine style layout. Every page is loaded with awesome pictures and sidebar notes. This poses a great challenge to make your child think like a crime scene scientist. This was a great read and keeps your mind turning throughout. The reading level for this kids book is ages 9-12.
